The Longest Week

After basically not getting a day off and then running into several late night/early mornings in the middle of the week, things ran a bit hotter in week 2 - hump week. Everyone chose their individual scapegoat and we powered through with only light animosity (I think) and the occasional outburst. My scapegoat is our location rep who neglected to effectively disarm the smoke alarms for us. So, on Wednesday, I watched my crew stand outside for almost an hour while the dorm buzzed and beeped and whistled and whirred. We are still basically an hour behind now for the shoot and the people who have to pay for it are the crew which is unfair as they're the ones who are working their pants off.

Speaking of the crew, they refused to wrap (basically) at 2 AM on Saturday night even as Jared was making sure to tell them that there was no overtime and it was late and so on and so forth. Jared is doing his job, making sure that we don't go over and that we can afford to pay people through the end of the shoot and Roxy and Liz and Art were doing theirs, making sure that they shot as much they thought we needed of Amanda in her fashion shoot bedroom.

The night ended, even later, with myself reading Josh's lines to Meliza (Amanda) in a dark room with Brandon (Producer) and now (Sound Mixer) holding the boom an inch from her lips and Bill (co-writer) looking on admiringly. It was a peaceful way to end a long week of difficult shooting - all the pranks, lots of actors, lots of blocking...

Upshot - Bill was impressed. The things that usually impress Bill are large bruises and gelatin. To get added to that list is a great honor. After two weeks, I can really see the movie because we've finally shot all of the different types of scenes - pranks, cards, phone booth, etc.

This week holds all of the scenes with Josh and Allie and the end of the movie.
