Carbondale Fever

It's true. Southern Illinois is all atwitter about Fifth Form. So much better getting to tell people that we're actually going to be filming in three weeks than it was telling people that I was trying to figure out how to get a movie made and then watching them glaze over, "oh another of Adam's Don't-Get-Rich-Quick Schemes". The more I say it now, the better it gets. Even Sarah (W) has admitted in polite company that she's excited.

Liz (DP) and I went through all the locations last week and talked through the whole script coming up with plans for each scene, discussing how those plans would evolve from room to room and as the story progresses. Even though we spend a lot of time inside, nothing is ever going to look quite the same. It's an exciting approach to the interior space that had us talking alot about Roman Polanski and Woody Allen - two of the best at moving through small spaces, framing and reinventing them as they go. This is turning out to be exactly the kind of movie I wanted to make, which shouldn't, but does, continue to astonish me.

So, now Liz has started to distill those notes and conversations into a shotlist and we'll go back and forth on it before handing to Jared (AD) to add the final piece to his ridiculous puzzle.

But, first, a wedding to attend!
