The First Post

This is not the writing that I signed up for.
About two years ago, I was told that my friend Nicole had started blogging. I responded knee-jerkedly and derisively as any "serious" writer would. And my wife responded defensively and even-handedly, the way, I believe, wives throughout history have been known to respond.
The next day I was driving back from the airport with an old college friend. We stopped for lunch. He told me I was not allowed to eat my Green Chili Cheeseburger without atleast attempting to pick it up. Good advice.
Bill, the college friend, blogged. And because I take my wife so seriously, I had to have atleast one serious conversation about blogging before going back to her and declaring myself correct about blogging. Of course, this never happened because I take Bill seriously too and, it turns out, he blogs for lots of reasons. Some for himself (so his drug-addled mind won't forget important moments), some for his friends (to tell of his exploits) and some for his family (so they'll know he still has control of his digits). But none of his reasons involved getting famous or crafting perfect prose.
He ended by saying that he would love to try a different type of writing, if I was game. I had just decided to turn Fifth Form into a screenplay and Bill would be my writing partner. Two of the best screenplays I've worked on later, Bill is a screenwriter and I'm a blogger. She works in mysterious ways, don't she? My wife, I mean.

As for today, our first rehearsal is today. The juniors, Josh, Harold, Ravi and Eddie get to meet their roommates for the first time making it very much like the first day of school. Working on getting a couple of local bands to contribute to the soundtrack. And we decided on a new Costume Designer, after a last minute defection by our original hire. More on her later.
