Last Day of the Last Week

Busy week. Camera crew up from LA. Finalized our crazy three week schedule. Spent most of every day blocking and shot listing at the location. And Friday and Saturday have been at the Photon office - wardrobe fitting, rehearsing and makeup testing.

Had my first rehearsals with the adults and Jonah (Josh) yesterday and it was such a treat. I think it was for him too. It was as if he got to be in on the conversations that parents and teachers have about teenagers when the teenagers aren't in the room. If he was any different, I would imagine that he would think we were all a bunch of blowhards but he really seemed to be letting it sink in.

The way Mom and Dad talked about wanting to protect him, the way Dottie laid into him for screwing up. Jonah mentioned that he was really feeling it. What started as a nice conversation about how he listens to Led Zeppelin and his classmates don't even know the song "Rock and Roll" turned into kind of a method rehearsal as the adults got into character around him.

Funny about the Zeppelin. Back when I was listening to classic rock, when it was still cool to listen to classic rock, no one listened to Zeppelin IV cause it was overplayed. My grade school even had the words to Stairway to Heaven muraled in the auditorium. It also had a Pink Floyd/Alice in Wonderland mural in the upper school hallway and the words to "Changes" scrawled on the outside of gym. I thought it was all terrifying. Nowadays kids would probably just think it was corny. I guess that's getting old.
