The First 1/2 Hour

I've watched it multiple times and it's way better than it has any right to be. That's as self-congratulatory as I'm going to get. Brandon is doing amazing work for a first time through. I have a full page of notes but they're mostly about fine tuning issues. Sound Design, transitions - all the things that we couldn't have known as we were editing from scene to scene. And, if I didn't mention it in my last blog, it's the right amount of time. We've just started the first prank and it's a half hour in. In other words, things are starting to happen and we've been introduced to the huge cast of the dorm at just the right time. I hope Columbia is proud.

I'd also like to spend a second to mention a film by Jenny Deller, Future Weather. Her website is www.futureweathermovie.com and she's got a couple of trailers up for it which look beautiful. And she's trying to make a green film which would be an incredible achievement on a low budget independent. The film industry is the biggest polluter in Los Angeles despite all of the well-intentioned liberals at the top of the food chain there. So to have a new generation of filmmakers that cares not only about the content of their films but the method by which they are made shows progress. I wish I had been able to do more. So, please check out her website, join her facebook cause and help Jenny raise some money to keep this important project moving forward.

Hi Adam,

My roommate and I were reading up on this and we were just curious as to how the film industry pollutes so much. I mean, in our production it seemed as if our only pollution was thrown away cigarettes and such. And yes, it takes like, 50 years to biodegrade a discarded cigarette, but does it really add up that much? (by the way, this is totally just for fun, don't pay too much attention to my comment. We were just bored.)
