Rejection Highlights

Got a great response from a couple of producers in NY and from an Acquisitions Exec at a Sales Agency. Sounds like boring stuff but this will be what moves us forward.

Busy trying to get tapped into the film scene in Austin. there's a great non-profit called Screen Door Films that arranges screenings at alternative venues around town fro low-budget indies and I'm trying to organize a local screening through them.

Still waiting on my first festival acceptance. Haven't heard from many and in several cases, I haven't heard at all. One festival (PHILADLEPHIL, SHAME ON YOU!) neglected to send a response at all. I found out that I wasn't included when they posted the schedule online. When I called attention to their gaffe, they then neglected to apologize. An incredible lack of respect for hardworking filmmakers, I'd say.

And in Sarasota, they tasked a poor intern with the job of sending out rejections. He put all of the rejectees in the cc list, thus breaching our privacy (not a big deal, really - I didn't even notice) and then made the intern write the first apology. "Hi, I'm Hunter and I'm an intern and 'm really sorry". It turned into quite a cause celebre for a couple of days and the Sarasota newsppaer just wrote an article about the Sarasota 350 Band of Outsiders.

Will be in touch soon with better news I hope. This part is one more link in the slow chain of getting a small movie in front of an audience in a country overrun with multiplexes.
